Mars is much closer than most planets from Earth at 242.28 million km and it is 240.72 million km away from the sun.
This means it is close enough to get the sun’s benefits but far enough to not be overheated, although cold temperatures can be frosty.
It is located between the asteroid belt and our planet, sort of safeguarding whatever could lie beyond the asteroids.
