28. The Drought In Peru
The effects of the extreme weather spread as far as Peru and had much impact on the Moche culture at the time. The Moche society was heavily agricultural and very invested in their religion which placed a lot of emphasis on sacrifices to ensure good weather.
The extreme weather of 536 completely smeared their way of life and is suggested to have contributed to the society’s disestablishment. The extended winter meant bad harvests which disrupted their way of life and shook their religion and faith in appeasing sacrifices.
