17. An Ice Core Containing The Answers
Medieval historian and archaeologist Michael McCormick made a groundbreaking discovery regarding the cause of the mysterious fog. His article published in Antiquity’s journal details the results of an ice core that was pulled by him and his team from the Swiss Alps.
The massive core, around 72 meters tall, contained myriads of microscopic history in the form of dust and metal materials as well as airborne particles. These findings served as a log that recorded how the weather changed in Europe for over 2,000 years.
