The Apollo 13 mission honestly cannot be called a washout or a failure because it did set some records. In terms of actual distance, the Apollo 13 was just 254 kms from the lunar surface of the moon on April 15th,1970. The spacecraft was a full 2,48,655 miles away from Earth.

Interestingly, the Odyssey is famous for being the only mission that has enabled humans to reach the farthest distance possible away from Earth. The three astronauts hold the Guinness Book World of Records distinction even today for this achievement.
