#17 Bodies Turn Into Soap Mummies
Our bodies are amazing in a way how they react differently in a different environment. For instance, a dead body may turn into a soap mummy when exposed to a damp, alkaline environment under a process called saponification.
Saponification releases a substance called adipocere – a waxy substance released upon decomposition of a body when exposed to anaerobic bacterial hydrolysis. The soft, greasy wax covers the body which then hardens with time.
