29. She Had Special Type Of Large Pores
Did you know that all sharks have a special type of pores called can detect electric signals? Well, our skinless shark not only had them, but researchers found her pores to be bigger than usual! Ampullary pores are a series of sensory organ receptors that can detect the electrical signals that are given off by muscle contractions of their potential prey.
These pores are fascinating and can also detect not just the electric field, but the magnetic field as well – and also temperature gradients. So it seems like the rare abnormality on our shark didn’t affect its ampullary pores, which could’ve in turn helped it hunt for prey!
