The Mysterious Skinless Shark That Has Scientists Baffled

Found in Sardinia

1. Found in Sardinia

This breakthrough discovery was made off Cape Carbonara in the coastal region of South Sardinia, Italy on July 19th, 2019. The whole thing was actually an accident – since this bizarre fish got caught in the trawling net by mistake, during a routine fishing expedition.

Sardinia is a coast along the Mediterranean sea that’s quite popular for trawling (large-scale fishing), thanks to its thriving and abundant marine life. The men aboard the vessel that caught the fish, Ruggero, were understandably quite confused and shocked as to what they saw entangled in their nets, along with several common fish!
