12. Is Natural Mutation The Culprit?
After scratching their heads over the mind-boggling discovery, researchers tried to answer the most obvious question – why is this shark skinless and toothless in the first place? And answering that is definitely not a walk in the park!
The biologists have broadly come up with three different possibilities, out of which the very first one is the most innocent of all explanation – that the lack of any skin and teeth on this shark is the result of a genetic mutation that happened naturally, without any foreign factors playing the culprit.
Genetic hiccups like these do give rise to unique mutations in every species – and perhaps this is yet another example of one?
