Walking Backwards

26. Walking Backwards

Superstition or not, walking backwards isn’t a sane thing to do, especially if you are walking on a busy street. Unless you want to get slashed by oncoming traffic or stampeded by the pedestrians, walking backwards is a real bummer.

Besides all the sensible reasons to not walk backwards, there is a strong belief in Portugal that walking backwards is an open invitation to “Mr Scratch”.

Think about it; why would you walk backwards when walking forward is way more convenient (and safe!)?
