#19 Preserving The Immune System With A Vegan Diet
Pharmaceuticals companies across the globe make a fortune by selling antibiotics, their principal consumer being the United States. Surprisingly, the majority of the antibiotics produced aren’t for humans but for livestock.
Nearly 80% of the antibiotic drugs sold in the US are used for breeding livestock. Cattle and poultry farmers inject their animals with antibiotics to promote growth and curb diseases they don’t even carry. Not only is this injurious to the health of the farmed animals but also for the person who consumes them.
As a result of consuming abnormal quantities of antibiotics, our bodies become habitual to antibiotics and create opportunities for bacteria to thrive. Following vegan diets could help prevent an overdose of antibiotics and preserve the immune system.
