19. Stephen Colbert Has a Treadmill Named After Him on the ISS
In 2009, Stephen Colbert won a N.A.S.A. competition to have an I.S.S. module named after him. Unfortunately for him, N.A.S.A. opted to call it ‘Tranquility’ instead. They have a policy of never naming modules after living people.
To make up for it, they decided to name a treadmill on the I.S.S. after him. It’s the Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistance Treadmill (C.O.L.B.E.R.T.)
In about ten years of use, the treadmill has been used to run thousands of miles above the earth’s surface.
