2017 Hurricane Maria

2017 Hurricane Maria

Hurricane Maria drenched Puerto Rico under a heavy downpour of more than 30 inches rain. The island’s economy was already bleeding after the havoc created by Hurricane Irma that same year. Hurricane Maria added to the misery of the economically crippled Puerto Rico.

Almost a Category 5 hurricane, Maria was more than a disaster. With sustained winds of more than 175 mph coupled with heavy and continuous rains smashing the island for 30 hours, it had all the elements of a catastrophic debacle.

The hurricane pummeled Puerto Rico on 20th September 2017 and is considered the worst of all storms to have hit the island in the last 80 years.
