2011 Tōhoku Earthquake And Tsunami
Nature is always evolving, and every natural disaster proves its utmost existence. The Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami was the most powerful quake ever in Japan. An undersea megathrust earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0-9.1, it had its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, 72 km. east of Oshika Peninsula of the Tōhoku region.
The gigantic Tsunami waves were as huge as 40.5 meters, spreading its disaster off the northeastern coast of Honshu, Japan’s Main Island. Multiple waves were encountered, one big wave flooded the city of Sendai, overflowing the river Natori. Reports confirmed that more than 22,000 people died and many more went missing.
