2010 Haiti Earthquake
When disaster strikes, it wipes off all our technology and inventions that put our modern life at ease and reminds us of our dependency on the mercy of nature. Haiti, being a poverty-stricken country in the Western Hemisphere, faced a disastrous earthquake. A rough figure of 250,000 deaths and 300,000 casualties were reported. The country faced a terrible humanitarian aid crisis in its history.
A magnitude 7.0 quake was registered. It hit 6.2 miles below the surface making the point of impact extremely powerful in energy and left the country in a catastrophe. The country’s weak economic conditions further worsened the misery.
