2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami
26 December of 2004 triggered the deadliest natural disaster in world history. The Indian Ocean Tsunami had set a devastating example of the power of mother nature.
An undersea megathrust quake that struck off the coast of Sumatra Island, Indonesia, hit 9.1 magnitude. It made the ocean floor rise by 40 meters, provoking a massive tsunami.
The areas surrounding the Indian Ocean got immensely affected. 14 countries including Aceh (Indonesia), Sri Lanka, Khao Lak (Thailand) and Tamil Nadu (India) faced a massive loss of life hitting the death toll of approximately 227,898 people in all.
