30. Countries Continue Supporting Commercial Whaling
Despite overwhelming opposition, countries such as Japan, Iceland, Norway, and Greenland continue their practices of commercial whaling. Japan is leading in this case, which means that the Minke whales, which are already endangered, are at an increased risk of extinction.
It’s predicted to be a dying industry but if rewards get any more lucrative than they are currently (which they are already) more countries could look to join the above for financial benefits. The sad reality is some still do and though they own their stance against whaling, they continue pledging support to Japan despite staggering evidence that suggests wrongdoing.
