New Delhi – the World’s Most Polluted Capital City
While Beijing has a smog-related lung condition named after it, it isn’t the most polluted capital city. Beijing actually only comes in eighth.
For the world’s most polluted capital, you have to head to India. New Delhi, which is home to over 20 million people, has the poorest air quality.Its PM 2.5 levels are double that of Beijing and are said to be as bad for a person as smoking five packs of cigarettes, or 200 cigarettes, a day.
Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, came in second and third, respectively.
