Despite Styrene being considered a carcinogen, it is still used in most of the foam takeaway boxes, plates, and glasses. What’s worse is that most takeout food is hot – and the heat can leach the styrene from the plastic into the food. *Shudders*
In fact, as a rule, it’s a good idea to never microwave any plastic that is not explicitly mentioned to be ‘microwave-safe’.
