1. Why Do We Grow Old?
For humans, the signs of aging are easy to see – early years see us growing bigger and stronger, while later years make us wrinkly and frail. But how exactly does aging happen, and why?
The answer to this has evaded biologists for a long time. Scientists know some basics of aging has to do with free radicals – unstable atoms that can damage cells. But we are still yet to track the exact mechanism by which we grow older.
Some say that once we unlock the process of aging, it may be possible to slow it down, or even put an end to it! But given our current understanding, it doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon.
