You may have heard, or perhaps even seen – some species of birds flocking to your town or city only during certain times of the year. These are birds that do something called migration, which involved flying literally thousands of kilometers every year.

We do know possible reasons for why some birds migrate – because they’re looking for areas with more food and resources for those particular seasons. But why then do only some birds migrate, while other species prefer to stay back?

Ornithologists are on hot on the trail of this question. While they may not have an exact answer now, recent advancements in tracing technology have made this answer within reach in the years to come.
