We’ve all seen tornadoes on TV in movies and documentaries, if not in real life. They can be quite powerful and, honestly, terrifying with their incredible speed and destructive capacity – often flattening anything that comes in their way – be it cars, or even houses!

But researchers are still puzzled a to why only some thunderstorms turn into tornadoes, while other similar ones do not. All we know at this point is that they usually form when dry, cold air interacts with humid-hot air. 

However, it’s still a mystery why these conditions don’t always produce tornadoes – looks like a roll of dice at this point – even to scientists!
