17. The Distance Between The Earth And The Sun Is Always The Same
From where we stand, it seems like the Earth is always equidistant from the Sun 365 days a year. Our planet has an elliptical orbit and the actual distance between the Earth and the Sun is 150 million kms. However, there is also a point called the ‘perihelion’ at which the Earth comes closest to the Sun and that distance becomes 140 million kms.
The ‘Aphelion’ which is the longest distance between the Earth and the Sun goes up to 152 million kms. This means that one year itself, the distance between the Earth and Sun changes by almost 5 million kms.
