Gururumba originates from the New Guinea region. Burglaries are heard of but not quite like the ones done by people suffering from this disorder!
The person, typically a married man, steals objects from the homes in the neighborhood. The sufferer considers the item to be of value, even though that is not the case.
After stealing, they are missing for days on end, only to return without the object and no recollection of the incident. Such symptoms are characteristic of conversion and dissociative disorders.
The stealing and subsequent memory loss can also be associated with cases of intoxication-related disorders. That may account for the clumsiness and slurred speech of the sufferer.
