Processed foods often contain a huge amount of unhealthy oils or partially hydrogenated oils (called PHOs), which are a huge source of trans fat. Trans fats directly increase the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood and simultaneously lower the level of good cholesterol too.
This can lead to increasing the risk of heart disease, cancer and even diabetes in people who consume a lot of processed food at regular intervals. The FDA actually had even stated that PHO’s are not considered safe and do cause health risks to individuals.
