2. Where Did It Originate From?
According to the WHO, an animal source is the most likely origin of the current coronavirus. Chinese authorities are still trying to determine the exact origin of the virus. However, they say it’s very likely that it came from the Huanan seafood wholesale market in the center of Wuhan in China.
The market was well known not only for its seafood but also for the trading of illegal wildlife. Other animals sold in the market included bats, beavers, turtles, wolf puppies, koalas and more. In total, it has been reported that a total of 120 wildlife animals across 75 species were sold at the market as food.
