There are currently no vaccinations available for new coronavirus. However, researchers around the world are racing against the clock to develop such a vaccine. At the end of January, the U.S. National Institutes of Health confirmed that they were at the preliminary stages of developing a vaccination against the new coronavirus.

Although the coronavirus causes pneumonia, treatments such as the pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine do not provide any protection. Currently, the only mechanism capable of fighting the coronavirus is the human immune system.
